Monica Hasek, Director of the Wellness Center

Monica Hasek, founding Director of the Wellness Center at Antioch College, is now the Director of Strategic Initiatives at Antioch College. In her new role, she continues to provide strategic guidance for the Wellness Center.

Monica, a native Daytonian, has worked as an interior designer and project manager for architectural firms, health care institutions and higher education facilities in Portland, Oregon, Anchorage, Alaska and Dayton, Ohio.

She has developed and implemented yoga and wellness programs for businesses, non-profits and organizations such as the Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE), Wittenberg University, Green Memorial Hospital, Antioch University, Antioch College, and Research Park in Beavercreek. Recently, she helped launch a program with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (Dayton VA Medical Center) that will utilize yoga to reduce the effects of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

Monica began building wellness communities in 2004 when she founded Yoga Springs Studio in Yellow Springs, Ohio. In an effort to fill the need for highly-qualified, well-trained and health-conscious teachers in this region, she developed a 200-hour Registered Yoga School in accordance witht the National Yoga Alliance, and has graduated forty students from the program since 2010.

In 2012 she expanded her business vision to downtown Springfield, Ohio where yoga continues to be taught in a safe and supportive environment.

Monica’s professional mission of expanding opportunities for health and wellness continues at Antioch College. She believes the climate is ripe for this community to become an institution that is respected for its leadership role in the study and pursuit of a holistic body, mind and spirit.
